Configuring the Program

We’ll just highlight some of the finer points of WhoStoleMyPC's configuration here. A comprehensive help system is included with the program

Configuration Screen:

Because WhoStoleMyPC is designed to operate without the thief knowing it’s there, you won’t find any start menu or desktop icons. Instead, you press a secret keystroke that will call up the configuration screen. An additional security question/answer is then used to validate your identity.

Watchdog:

If your computer is unable to access the Internet for a while, it will shift into Watchdog Mode, and execute a series of pre-specified commands. However, a security question will be asked first, just in case the computer hasn’t been stolen (but your Internet access is down).

Watchdog Commands:

When your computer is in Watchdog Mode, a series of commands will be executed. You specify them here.

The following commands can be added:

File Transmission:

Some commands use an FTP server to relay information back to you. Information about your FTP server access is specified here. What’s an FTP server?
